Provide access from public sidewalks, parking, or public transportation.

  • Install an entrance ramp
  • Widen an entrance
  • Provide accessible parking spaces

TEST YOURSELF: Can people find a space to park with clearly maked accessible parking stalls? Is there a clearly marked accessible path of travel to the entrance of the building, and is the path accessible and easily used by persons in wheelchairs? Is the entrance accessible and marked that way? 

Provide access to areas where good and services are made available to the public.

  • Adjust layout of display racks
  • Rearrange tables
  • Provide Brailled and raised character signage
  • Widen doors
  • Provide visual alarms
  • Install ramps

TEST YOURSELF: Once in the building, is there a clear path of travel to the goods and services that are being offered?

Provide access to restroom facilities.

  • Remove obstructing furniture or vending machines
  • Widen doors
  • Install lamps
  • Provide accessible signage
  • Widen toilet stalls
  • Install grab bars

TEST YOURSELF: Are the bathroom facilities clearly marked as accessible and are they accessible?

Take any other measures necessary to provide access to the good, services, facilities, privileges, advantages or accommodations of a place of public accommodation.
